Calaveras Big Trees
A great place to cool down during a warm summer day. Take a hike though some very spectacular Sequoia Redwood trees that are very very old and explore some great trails. Have lunch in Arnold or continue up the hill on Hwy 4 to Alpine Lake.
Go Fishing
…at Lyons, Beardsley, or Pinecrest lake. Boat rentals are available at Pinecrest and fish by the river inlet or near the dam

… enjoy a day of swimming, hiking and BBQ picnicking on the beach at this very scenic lake. About a 30 minute drive from Twain Harte.
Knights Ferry
…drive down the hill to Knights Ferry and visit the old town and cool off in the Stanislaus river that runs through town. This is a great spot to Kyak or float down stream. Have lunch at a restaurant on the river or brin`g a lunch. Fishing is quite good as well in this area.
